PJBeats

PJBeats is the electronic music project of P.J. Baranski, a DJ and producer originally from Gdańsk, Poland. His musical identity has been shaped by a long and evolving journey through different scenes, cities, and personal transformations, ultimately leading to a distinctive sound rooted in house, techno, and tribal-influenced electronic music.

His first steps into music began in an unconventional way — experimenting with scratching on old, non-functional vinyl postcards belonging to his grandmother. This early, hands-on exploration of sound became the foundation of his rhythmic intuition and deep connection to analogue textures.

Initially immersed in the hip-hop culture of the early 1990s, he later discovered electronic music while living in Poznań, where he developed a strong passion for techno and house. In 2002, he began performing under the alias DJ YoYo, quickly gaining recognition for energetic, tribal-driven sets that resonated within the underground scene.

In 2009, he relocated to Bristol, United Kingdom, a city known for its rich electronic music heritage. This move marked a significant turning point, influencing both his artistic direction and production style. Bristol’s sound system culture and diverse musical landscape helped refine his approach to rhythm, atmosphere, and storytelling through music.

A major disruption occurred in 2012 when he was invited to perform in Ibiza, but a sudden theft of his vinyl collection shortly before departure forced an unexpected pause in his career. This period led to a deeper personal and artistic rebuilding process, including struggles with mental health and identity as an artist.

After years of reflection and reinvention, 2026 marks a new chapter with the launch of PJBeats — a project that represents resilience, transformation, and forward-thinking electronic music. It is not just a return, but a reinvention, combining years of experience with a renewed creative vision.
